Generally when men hit 50, they should annually go for a prostate examination. Especially, if there is a family history of prostate cancer. Men may find it slightly uncomfortable, but it’s equally important to take these precautionary measures.

Prostate cancer in many ways can be painful and life changing.  Scientific definition of prostate cancer states it as a form of cancer that develops in prostate glands in the male reproductive organ. Some general symptoms include frequent urination, increased urination during night, difficulty in starting and maintaining the steady stream of urine, blood observed in urine and painful urination. Many patients can experience burning sensation with urination. As the tumor grows, it completely blocks the flow of urine which can result in painful obstructed and enlarged bladder. In advanced stages, the tumor can spread to the surrounding tissues to the pelvic nodes. Prostate cancer is detected from the result of biopsy.

A person having genetic background has got the higher risks of getting prostate cancer. It is associated with family and specific gene variant. There is no single gene that is responsible for development of this type of cancer, it is the result of the implications of different genes. A human male having a brother or father suffering from prostate cancer, has got the greatest risk of developing this malignant tumor. Diet plays a protective role in reducing the occurrences of prostate cancer. A balanced diet consisting of Vitamin B6, selenium, vitamin E, lycopene and soy foods is proved as the best to keep male body away from prostate cancer. Balanced diet has got the key in keeping the body of a person fit and energetic. Green tea also has the medicinal property of ceasing the development of tumor.
